Statements--What We Practice
Home Cell Groups
Acts 2:46 (TLB)
"They worshiped together regularly at the Temple each
day, [and daily] met in small groups in homes..."
Home Cell Groups are important
because they provide a Bible framework in which discipleship,
fellowship, spiritual growth, ministry development , scriptural
accountability and evangelism can be practically carried out. In
other words, Home Cell Groups is the 'backbone' of City Harvest
Church.
Authority of the Bible
2 Tim 3:16 (TLB)
"The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God
and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize
what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do
what is right."
Since God's Word is the only
complete and reliable truthful authority, we accept the Bible as
our manual for living. Our first question when faced with a
decision is, "What does the Bible say?" We practice
daily Bible reading, Bible study and Bible memorization. The
Bible is the basis for all we believe.
Relationship
Eph 2:19, 22 (TLB)
"...you are members of God's very own family,...and you
belong in God's household with every other
Christian...And you also are joined with Him
and with each other by the
Spirit..."
A key aspect of Christianity is
relationship. The Great Commandment is all about having a real
heartfelt love relationship with God. Out of that union with God,
we become His channel of love to the people around us. That is
what church membership is all about in Church; people committing
themselves in covenant relationships with one another.
Vibrant Praise and Worship
1 Chron 13:8
"Then David and all Israel played music before God with
all their might, with singing, on harps, on
stringed instruments, on tambourines, on cymbals, and with
trumpets."
In City Harvest, we sing aloud,
clap our hands and dance for joy with all our might! When it
comes to worship, we lift up our hands, bow before the Lord or
even kneel in His presence. This is simply because the Bible
clearly instructs Christians everywhere to do so.
Evangelism
Rom 10:14
"But how shall they ask him to save them unless they
believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have
never heard about him? and how can thy hear about him unless someone
tells them?"
It is the responsibility of every
Christian to share the Good News with those whome God brings us
into contact with. We practice personal sharing about Jesus and
inviting friends to church.
Spirit-filled Living
Gal 5:25
"If we live in the Spirit,
let us also walk in the Spirit."
We believe the only possible way
to live the Christian life is by God's power within us. So we
seek to practice a daily dependence on God's Spirit to enable us
to do what is right.
Tithing
Lev 26:30 (NIV)
"A tithe of everything...[you produce]...belongs to
the Lord; it is holy to the Lord."
At City Harvest, we practice
tithing for the support of Christ's Body, the Church, as God
commands. We recognize that giving 10% of our income is the
biblical standard of giving.
